More About Writers

Editor's Note

The authors here are ones for whom I have set up web pages with more information—an automatically updated feed from a yahoo search, a bit of background, and a list of the most prominent books by the author now in print.

These are all selected from the featured authors who I rate as outstanding, around the world and in the USA. As time permits, I'm adding details for more authors, particularly focusing on those authors I have read (or reread) recently. I'm including authors with recent new books, classic authors worth rereading, and less-known authors who I think deserve more attention.

Here's my current list, last updated on Feb 01, 2009

Eric Ambler – undoubtedly the leading thriller writer of the mid-twentieth century. His portrayals of the years before World War II in his classic novels range over Europe and the Mediterranean.

John Harvey – Val McDermid says "John Harvey's Resnick novels reinvented the British police procedural." His latest revives the Charlie Resnick series after a decade interlude.

Paula L. Woods – There are only four novels in the series so far, but her Charlotte Justice series is already getting praise such as that by Valerie Wilson Wesley:"No one captures the glamour and grit of L.A. better than Paula L. Woods."
